new insta - read caption - you need to go 40 days in woods alone - realize what matters to you and, if lucky, only to you.
There’s an idea I’ve had that hasn’t been given the respect it needs to grow.
To materialize it I’ll try to explain:
Where we sit between Heaven and Hell dictates the nature of our impulses.
Examples:
Impulse to take money that doesn’t belong to you off a kitchen counter.
vs.
Impulse to give the cashier at the grocery store a compliment.
It sounds simple - that’s the point, for now - but grab your cowboy hat.
There’s a commonly tossed around ‘theory’ or ‘belief’ that externalizing thoughts - forcing them out through speech/writing - simplifies them by 400%.
Take this with a grain of salt as the first time I heard it was form a friend in the fraternity chapter room in between shots of Absolut vodka and dart rips hours before a mixer. I know, the place where men, of ‘culture’ influence their local 7/11s.
Nonetheless the idea stuck and has honestly always proven to help in some regard. If there’s a long, ongoing thought - think page long instead of mere sentence - it needs to be vocalized or explored in writing - or talk, if you are into talking out loud alone - so that you can get to the thick of it.
I’ll do that with this idea:
the idea that your impulses are an exact representation of where you sit on a Divine scale of (morality?)
I trust impulse. It’s a quick thought, impossible to grab in a bottle, that hits you like lightening.
Acting on impulse is purity in motion.
There’s no action more raw and soul showing.
We’re like antennas. Earthly tools for Holy ideas.
My friend Chen, who many of you know online, responded to a tweet of mine January 2021. The OP was, and grant me leniency as this was long ago and is now being forced back into attentions stare, something like “you have to treat every IDEA with respect, act on it quickly and prioritize getting it into the world.”
I still believe this. Above all else I prioritize idea, jotting them down, watering them with thought and time.
But chen responded and said “Ideas are from God, he gives them to you to get into the world. If you don’t create them, he’ll pass the idea to someone else.”
Damn. There’s still so much power in those words. I’m going to try and find his tweet and leave it in the comments. update I found it and linked in comments.
We’re like an antenna. Earthly tools for holy ideas that are sent through us to execute. Established now that I see Ideas/Impulses coming from Heaven and Hell, we can move on;
The quicker the time between impulse and action the better. This means the more we trust our impulses, the better off we are. But trusting impulses CAN be risky business.
Where they get risky…
